WARRIORS: Stars of Destiny

Ivyclan - Clan Culture

Religious Practices

Water drips from the rocky ceilings onto the stone floor, centuries old stalagmites spiraling taller as pawsteps trot by. Deep echoes reverberate through its chambers as quiet voices are exchanged. Inside the heart of IvyClan, the dreaming pool's water ripples gently as a fallen warrior is placed gently inside. As the undertow pulls them into darkness, a new star flickers into existence. As the procession of grieving cats return to camp, the Sun and Moon Guardian take up a silent vigil near the crystal-clear pools. The entrance of StarClan will always be guarded.

The Sun and Moon Guardians are a crucial part of IvyClan's belief system. While no clan denies the existence of the guardians, IvyClan is particularly drawn to them. Hosting the Sun Celebration, and communing primarily through the guardians rather than with StarClan as a whole, any cat bearing the guardian mark is revered. Claiming the Sun Guardian as their patron, IvyClan holds the belief that their clan is favored by the sun guardian and attributes their bountiful greenleaf to their guardian.

The belief in silverpelt and stars is common amongst IvyClan cats. Silverpelt stretches across the night sky and is reflected in sparkling lights on the ceilings of their cavern. When a warrior passes, their body is placed in the dreaming pools to be returned to the earth. Soon after, a new star takes its place in silverpelt. The glistening stars are believed to be their ancestors always watching over them.

Clan Traditions

Ceremonies

Apprentice

At the age of 6 moons, a kit will be summoned forward during a clan meeting. Immediately following, leader will descent the stone and touch noses, and the new apprentice gets to go outside camp for the first time and pick the shell they want for their bracelet, bringing it back for the Weaving Club to craft.

Medicine Cat

When medicine cat apprentices complete training and are ready to have their full medicine cat name given, their mentor will take them to a shallow part of the ocean and perform a ritual almost like a baptism. When underwater, if they see an array of dancing stars and lights, it is a certain sign that Starclan has accepted the completion of their apprenticeship and welcomes the new feline as a full fledged medicine cat.

Sentinel

The decision has been made to become a Sentinel. The retiring cat will take a group of 3-4 friends with them and do one last walk around the territory under the title of their current rank. When back in camp, the cats gather in the starry cave for the ceremony, and the honorific “Sentinel” will be gained.
